SILVERTONE MARK 22-C,

8 CHANNEL R/C SYSTEM.

The Mark 22-C transmitter is especially designed to cater to those who are moving into the realm of advanced R/C projects. Expandable from 4 to 24 channels, the Mark 22-C TX contains all of the usual Mark 22 features (including Frequency Interlock) but with the following features added:

·         Quick disconnect socket to provided rapid changeover from internal to external battery.

·         Quick disconnect BNC socket to provide rapid changeover from the internal telescopic antenna to an external co-ax 50 ohm helical whip antenna.

·         Quick disconnect, auto disarming dual control socket option.

·         Programmable AM or FM

Mark 22-A on the left and Mark22-C on the right. Note BNC connector on the Mark22-C for 50ohm co-ax antenna connection. As these transmitters do not use volatile ICs in the encoder and are shielded by aluminium cases, they are immune to interference from mobile phones and other sources of EMI.

When fitted with the dual control option the Mark 22-C TX can be used to act as the control module in a UAV van console control system. The quick disconnect feature allows the transmitter to be very rapidly connected and disconnected to allow the pilot to move outside for conventional take-offs and landings.

However the Mark 22-C TX is only one component in the fully integrated Silvertone R/C safety system. This system begins with Frequency control and frequency interlock, radios fitted with a host of novel features including dual control to provide safe and easy pilot training, fail-safe modules, automatic flight modules and finally parachute recovery to ensure absolute safety in the effect of any malfunction. No other R/C system offers such a complete range of safety features.

The Mark 22-C receiver may be fitted with a number of Silvertone In-line Fail-safe modules to provide automatic changeover to automatic flight, normal fail-safe or parachute recovery. The fail-safe is not of the lockout variety but a simple missing pulse detector.

The mute feature on the Mark 22-C receiver ensures that there is no jitter on the servos with the transmitter switched off. A secondary chip enable circuit in the decoder provides back up to the mute, ensuring that the Mark 22-C RX is one of the most silent PPM receivers in the no carrier mode. When fail-safe low throttle and parachute deploy is fitted to a model, the level of safety is beyond anything currently available on the market today. Parachute recovery is an idea about to be re-visited in the light of several recent sad incidents involving out of control R/C models, both here and in the UK.

Pattern type model fitted with parachute stowed beneath the jettisonable canopy. Attachment point must be in front of the CG to compensate for vertical lift from tailplane during descent.

When combined with the Silvertone Keyboard system of frequency control featuring Frequency Interlock, the Silvertone R/C system far exceeds the flying field safety capabilities of all known modelling R/C systems, both here in Australia and overseas.

Silvertone Keyboard, Australian nation standard frequency control system. Approved and sanctioned by the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia for use at all national championships. Note the pin on the frequency key at right. This plugs into the socket on the transmitter and removes all power from the TX. Thus when the frequency key is not in use it can be used to lock the TX OFF, thus preventing accidents with transmitters left on in the TX pound. This system can only be used with the Silvertone Keyboard, as it is the only system in which each flier has his own frequency key.

The Silvertone Optical Autopilot will provide pitch and roll stabilisation in less than optimum conditions, a vast improvement on current optical designs. When used with a GPS steering module and altitude hold module, a level of sophistication and safety is provided which was undreamt of 5 years ago and all for a very reasonable price tag. (Approx AU$2000) The GPS steering module allows the model to be programmed to follow a pre-planned route and return to base automatically all with no input from the transmitter.

Serious modellers will find some of the above features useful. The external battery pack feature will allow record flights to be pushed to unlimited duration. The external helical whip antenna will provide the maximum allowable EIRP extending the range to the maximum allowable for R/C models. The Altitude hold module is ideal for ab-initio flight training

24 channel two-deck encoder. Features include 24 channels proportional or up to 18 switched, ATV, dual rate, mixing and channel allocation on every channel.

All in all the Mark 22-C R/C system is a very interesting system. Loaded with safety features, reliable and above all economically priced, it deserves a close look when choosing your next R/C system. Further details are available on these web pages or contact us for more information.
