TeraRanger One

The small, fast, and light time-of-flight distance sensor. Up to 1000 readings/s. 14m range. Only 8 grams.

TeraRanger One is a lightweight, high-performance distance measurement sensor based on infrared Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology.

It is much faster than ultrasound and far smaller and lighter than laser-based systems. Its small size, high performance and low power consumption make it ideal for modern robotic applications, drone operations and automation, whilst its cost-effectiveness also makes it suitable for high volume usage as well as powerful research and DIY applications.

For crosstalk avoidance in multiple robot environments two versions of the sensor are available, type A and type B, which can operate simultaneously without affecting each other’s reading. Sensors A and B performance are very similar. We prefer A for indoor environments and B for outdoor as the latter is more stable in direct sunlight.

TeraRanger Duo

Uses double and redundant technology – this is a TeraRanger One and an advanced long-range sonar working in parallel inside a single module.

Combining our advanced infrared Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology with classic ultrasound technology, you’ll never again have issues detecting the proximity of difficult surfaces. Whether it’s reflective, transparent or absorbent surfaces such as carpets, water, transparent glass, or sound absorbing materials.  TeraRanger Duo will provide fast, accurate results in a super-light and cost-effective package.

– Range:  14m for ToF. 7.5m for ultrasound
– Update rate:  1000Hz in fast mode and up to 600Hz in precision mode for ToF. Up to 15Hz for ultrasound (1Hz in default mode)
– Range resolution:  0.5cm for ToF. 1.0cm for ultrasound
– Accuracy:  ± 4.0cm in precision mode ToF
– Field of view:  3° ToF. About 5-10° for ultrasound
– Supply voltage:  12V DC recommended (10-20V DC accepted)

Operating Modes:
– By default the sensor streams two distance values in parallel that you can use with your own algorithm.  One value comes from the ToF unit, and the other from the ultrasound unit.

TeraRanger Tower

TeraRanger Tower is a simultaneous multi-axis scanner capable of replacing traditional laser lidar scanners in some applications. It is totally silent and has zero moving parts, resulting in greater efficiency and reliability.

TeraRanger Tower is a simultaneous multi-axis scanner capable of replacing traditional laser lidar scanners in some applications.

It is totally silent and has zero moving parts, resulting in greater efficiency and reliability. It combines 8 TeraRanger One sensors and the TeraRanger Hub to create a lightweight, fully eye-safe scanner for Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) and collision avoidance on fast-moving ground and airborne robots. Calibrated distance data is streamed from a USB or UART port as an array of synchronised distances, in millimetres.

– Update rate: Fixed 270 Hz in fast mode and up to 270 Hz in precision mode

TeraRanger Hub

TeraRanger Hub allows you to synchronize distance data from up to 8 TeraRanger sensors and stream out an array of distance measurements. It is compatible with TeraRanger One.

UART and USB interfaces (UAVCAN in development).  Dimensions: 56 x 56 x 14mm. Weight: 15g without case, 25g with case.
